What each record holds
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
id, slug, url | Stable identifiers and the law's page on botnotice.app. |
jurisdiction, jurisdiction_name | A code (US-FED, EU, UK, or a state code such as CA) and the name. |
status | in_force, enacted_future (passed, not yet effective), pending, or enjoined (blocked by a court). |
effective_date | ISO date the obligations start or started. |
applies_to | The kinds of AI use that bring a business into scope: support or sales chatbots, companion chatbots, AI voice agents, AI-generated media, AI in hiring, healthcare, advice, automated decisions. |
disclosure.required, disclosure.timing | The law's own words on what must be said and when, plus repeat intervals and minor-specific duties where they exist. |
other_duties, exemptions | Obligations beyond the notice, and who is carved out. |
penalties, enforcement, private_right_of_action | What non-compliance costs, who enforces it, and whether private lawsuits are allowed. |
sources | Primary sources: the statute, the regulator's guidance, the court order. |
last_verified | The date a person last checked the record against its sources. The set is reviewed weekly. |
How it is kept current
A weekly review reads each law's sources for changes: new effective dates, amendments, court orders, new guidance. A change updates the record and its last_verified date, the site's pages, and this dataset in the same release, because they are all built from one file. Pending bills sit in watchlist until they become law. Errors or omissions: support@botnotice.app.
